Pupil Premium is funding that we receive from the Government. It is additional to our main school funding and is used to address the underlying inequalities between children who are eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by making sure that this extra funding reaches the children who need it most.

- Teaching Assistant intervention: Teaching assistants work with pupils across the school on a one to one, small group or through support in class to ensure that their progress is at least in line with national expectations. These interventions are assessed and monitored every six weeks to make sure that progress is taking place. If this is not evident, the intervention is changed.
- Pastoral care: we are establishing a nuture group to help prevent emotional, family or environmental issues having an impact on learning.
- Family Support: Our counsellor works with pupils to ensure that for those where emotional or behavioural needs may have an impact on learning are given the support to address and overcome these difficulties.
- Enrichment of the curriculum: To support our curriculum, all classes go on trips to further engage them in their learning. Year 5 and 6 attend residential trips to allow them to experience outdoor adventure and activity that develops their confidence, self-esteem and team building skills.
- Extra-curricular activities: We are fortunate to be able to offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities including music and drama and many of our pupils participate. This allows for further enhancement of a child’s education as well as acquiring skills in the arts and has a positive impact on their learning.
- How do we know this is making a difference: Pupil progress of all our pupils is tracked on a termly basis and progress of pupils across a variety of groups is compared. At Longney, pupils achieve well across a wide range of groups.
